Designing banners for your website

If you have a website then you will probably need some banners to use as call to actions on the page. When creating a banner, it can be hard to get the balance right. If it is too busy it may put people off and they may not actually understand what it is supposed to be telling them. You need to think carefully about use of colour, images, fonts and shapes. Some of the best banners are very simple, on white backgrounds with sharp text and an image.

When looking at the fonts to use on your banners, try and stay in keeping with the rest of your website. Have a look what font was used in your logo or on your navigation for example and pick something that is the same or very similar.

Colours again should be in keeping with your branding and logo. You may want to add a splash of a different colour but try and make sure that all of your banners have a theme that runs throughout, this will allow them to be easily recognisable and build up a branding.

Make sure that any images you use on your website are of a high quality. Poor quality images can really put visitors off and end up costing you in enquiries and sales.
