You can’t just build a pretty website and expect your job to be done. You need to drive the right people to it. There are many elements to marketing and they can impact your website positively or negatively. They can improve corporate rankings, SEO keywords, social media, and even email marketing. They can turn a standard website into a website that successfully brings in clients. If you don’t pursue marketing efforts harshly, your website will not bring any clients and will just sit dormant.
Rankings are the first thing that pop up in your mind and get you in trouble. Many of your clients will panic if they see their website lost rankings for a second, without checking if rankings had any impact on their visibility. You can drop some low quality rankings and gain some better quality rankings. These lower rankings actually drive better quality traffic.
The field in which you operate dictates the level of competition you will face. The more vague your target key phrase, the more competitors you will have and the more time and money you will have to invest to remain competitive. From a restricted budget point of view, it is smarter to tackle phrases that have low competition and will yield a quick win, then proceed to go after the highly competitive phrases. Winning a key phrase that has low search volume is a major failure, as there was no purpose in achieving that.
And then we have the more “straightforward” options, like email marketing; it’s had a successful run for almost as long as the internet has been around. The mass email drops that get sent to everyone are almost always simply ignored or trashed, and rightfully so. An email with an enticing subject line and an attached incentive sent to an appropriate target audience is a much more effective email. The most successful attempts at engagement are usually promotions or contests.
The rise of TikTok and other social platforms has changed the marketing game, and it is now more important than ever to meet your audience where they are already. The medium and platform may change, but the objective always stays the same: propose a strong message to the audience, and give them a reason to act.
